Inside the energy system

Connected energy.
Considered engineering.

A hybrid inverter brings solar generation, battery storage and AC loads into one system. The right choice depends on how those parts work together—not just the number on the nameplate.

One inverter. Four system interfaces.
Hybrid inverterPower conversion & control
01 / DC inputSolar PV

MPPT tracks the array's operating point.

02 / DC storageBattery

Charge and discharge within agreed limits.

03 / AC serviceGrid

Import or permitted export, where supported.

04 / AC outputLoads

Supply matched circuits and backup loads.

Conceptual interfaces, not a wiring diagram. Grid interaction and backup functions depend on the model and installation.

01 / Energy management

Follow the power.
Then define the priorities.

Operating modes determine when solar, storage and the grid contribute. These examples explain the principles; supported modes and settings must be checked on the exact inverter.

A / Solar available

Use available generation.

PV can supply connected loads and charge a compatible battery within system limits. Surplus handling depends on charge limits and any supported, approved export arrangement.

PVLoads / battery
B / Low solar output

Coordinate the sources.

Battery discharge or grid import may support demand according to reserve settings, time schedules and the selected operating mode. Storage capacity and discharge power are separate limits.

Battery / gridLoads
C / Grid outage

Support defined circuits.

Where supported, the backup output can serve designated loads using available PV and battery energy. Check isolation, transfer behavior and starting loads before specifying backup.

Available energyBackup circuits

A hybrid inverter is not automatically a grid-export inverter or a UPS. Do not assume uninterrupted operation or support for every load.

02 / Solar input

MPPT finds the operating point.
The string design sets the limits.

Maximum power point tracking adjusts the PV operating voltage as sunlight and module temperature change. It cannot compensate for a string that exceeds the inverter's electrical ratings.

Separate MPPT channels may help manage arrays with different orientations. Confirm which connectors belong to each tracker and follow the model's string-design requirements.

Compare model-level PV data

Four checks before connecting PV

  1. Maximum open-circuit voltageCalculate string Voc at the site's lowest design temperature; keep within the absolute input limit.
  2. MPPT operating rangeCheck string operating voltage across expected temperatures, including startup requirements.
  3. Current per input / trackerVerify permitted operating and short-circuit currents and how parallel strings combine.
  4. Permitted array powerFollow the model's PV sizing allowance. PV input power and AC output power are different ratings.

03 / Storage integration

A matching voltage is only the beginning.

The current ELECNO range includes nominal 24V and 48V battery platforms. Compatibility requires electrical limits, communication and configuration to agree.

Electrical fit

Voltage & current

Check the battery's full operating-voltage window, continuous and peak discharge limits, allowed charging current and system protection.

MPPT input current is on the PV side. Battery charging current is on the storage side. They are not interchangeable specifications.

Communication fit

Protocol & firmware

Where a supported closed-loop connection is available, the BMS can communicate state and operating limits. Confirm the battery protocol, inverter firmware, cable pinout and selected settings.

CAN / RS485 describes a communication interface—not a guarantee that a particular battery brand will work.

Check compatibility

04 / AC architecture

Choose the phase.
Engineer the expansion.

Supply arrangement and parallel capability solve different problems. More units do not automatically create the phase system or redundancy a project needs.

Parallel operation is model-specific.

Some documented models support parallel operation; others do not. Check the permitted unit count, compatible models and firmware, communications, battery arrangement and commissioning procedure.

  • Do not mix models unless explicitly approved.
  • Size the battery bus and protection for combined current.
  • Confirm synchronization and permitted phase configuration.
  • Do not assume parallel operation guarantees redundancy.

Technical clarity

Before you finalize a specification.

Use these answers as a starting point, then confirm the model-specific installation manual and local requirements.

Does more MPPT capacity mean more AC output?

No. MPPT and PV input ratings describe the solar input side. Rated AC output describes the load side. A larger permitted PV array does not increase the inverter's rated AC output; available energy is still subject to conversion and operating limits.

Can a hybrid inverter operate without a battery?

That depends on the exact model, operating mode and available sources. Do not infer battery-free operation from the word hybrid. Ask for written confirmation of supported operation, load limitations and behavior during low solar output or an outage.

How should backup transfer time be specified?

Use the exact model's documented transfer behavior and the load's tolerance. A published transfer-time figure alone does not establish compatibility with every server, control system or critical appliance. Validate the complete design for sensitive equipment.

What documents are needed before installation?

Request the current model datasheet, installation manual, supported battery and parallel configuration details, and any market-specific compliance evidence required for the project. A qualified installer must select wiring, isolation, grounding and protection under local rules.
