Quick answer
A typical North American split-phase service uses L1, L2 and neutral. Each line-to-neutral path supplies 120Vac, while a line-to-line circuit supplies 240Vac. The two legs must be treated as one coordinated power system.

Product boundary
The supplied brochure lists SPI single-phase and GES split-phase as separate families. A power rating or battery voltage match does not make their AC outputs interchangeable.

All listed models show 500V maximum PV open-circuit voltage. PV input, MPPT current and battery charging current remain model-specific. Product images are representative family visuals.
Load planning
A whole-home total hides the detail a split-phase design needs. Separate 120V loads by leg, list every 240V load and identify the largest simultaneous surge.
Do not assume the total inverter kW is freely available on one 120V leg.
Separate motor starting from continuous operating power.
Confirm topology, conductor sizing and protective arrangement.
Verify switching, bonding and local code with the exact system.
DC design envelope
Every documented split-phase model uses a nominal 48V battery platform, but battery current rises across the range. PV capacity and MPPT current also change by model.

It is designed for a split-phase AC system with two line conductors and a neutral. In the usual arrangement, line-to-neutral loads use 120Vac and line-to-line loads use 240Vac. Exact wiring and ratings must follow model documentation and local code.
The terms may be grouped differently in different markets, but they are not interchangeable product labels here. The supplied brochure separates 120Vac single-phase SPI models from 120/240Vac split-phase GES models.
Yes. All eight non-conflicted split-phase models in the supplied guide use a nominal 48V platform. Compatibility still requires the full voltage window, current, BMS interface, protocol, firmware and protection to match.
The guide confirms separate model names. At 8kW it lists 10kW PV input for ELE GES4880M160-500P and 12kW for the PLUS model; it does not establish one universal PLUS benefit for every specification, so compare exact datasheets.
A correctly designed split-phase system can serve both load types, but the result depends on model limits, line loading, neutral current, surge, battery capability, transfer arrangement and protection. Submit a circuit-level load schedule for confirmation.
